Overview
SNMP Managers are used to generate SNMP notifications as follows:
- When an outboard component (agent, transporter, or hub) goes down or comes back up. See Sending Notifications on Outboard Component Status.
- When the manager is being used to generate notifications associated with a task. See Creating SNMP Notifications.
Creating a New SNMP Manager
The SNMP Manager provides all the information necessary for the system to send an SNMP message using SNMP Notifications.
- From the Resources section of the Navigation Pane, select SNMP Managers.
- From the resource wizard, select New. OpsWise Automation Center displays the SNMP Manager screen:
- Using the field descriptions provided below as a guide, complete the fields as needed.
- Click Submit to save the record.
- If appropriate, repeat these steps for any additional SNMP managers you want to add.
SNMP Manager Field Descriptions
The table below describes the fields and buttons on the SNMP Manager screen.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Manager Name | Required. Name used within OpsWise Automation Center to identify this resource. Up to 40 alphanumerics. It is the user’s responsibility to develop a workable naming scheme for resources. |
| Manager Address | Required. The name or IP address of the SNMP manager. |
| Manager Port | The port number on the machine where the SNMP manager resides. Any port number between 1 and 65535. |
| Submit button | Submits the new record to the database. |
| Update button | Saves updates the record. |
| Delete button | Deletes the current record. |
