Naming Tips

From OpsWise Documentation Wiki

Many functions within OpsWise Automation Center are executed against one or more records. For example, you can give a user permission to change only certain tasks, issue commands against a group of task instances, or filter a trigger list to display only certain triggers.

Two methods are available to help you organize your records to facilitate the use of these functions. One method is to develop a naming scheme for records. For example, when naming tasks, you might prepend with "SF" all tasks related to San Francisco operations. Or, the name of all report-related tasks might begin with "REPT". With such a naming scheme, you can sort and filter lists by selecting records, for example, that begin with "REPT." You can assign permissions and execute commands against records using the same method.

Another method for organizing records is using Opswise groups. Whenever you create a record in OpsWise Automation Center, you can assign it to an Opswise group. The Opswise group is simply a method of grouping records. For example, you may have an Opswise group called "SF" or an Opswise group called "REPT." Using this method, you could then filter or sort a list based on the Opswise group. As another example, you could assign permissions to a user, giving him update permission to all records in the "REPT" Opswise group. Opswise groups allow you to create groups based on business functions and organize all your Opswise records according to the categories you define.
